Job Title: Senior Communications and Engagement Officer

Location: London, with international travel
Salary: This is a full-time position, salary 38,000 - 42,000GBP (depending on experience).
EARA is a communications and advocacy organisation, with offices in London and Brussels, whose mission is to uphold the interests of biomedical research and healthcare development, regarding the use of animals for research. EARA provides a platform, across Europe and beyond, for the public and other external stakeholders to be informed and learn about the role of animals in scientific research and the benefits and limitations. Being an advocacy and communications membership organisation with a global reach, EARA also encourages the creation and development of national networks of stakeholders and improves the co-ordination between them.
Under the management of the EARA Communications and Media Manager, the principal duties will be:
Daily postings and monitoring traffic through the EARA English language Twitter.
Prepare and manage the EARA global Twitter campaign #BOARD22, in June, in Marseille France and other occasional campaigns.
Regular weekly postings on EARA LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook.
Co-ordination of 18 EARA Social Media Ambassador Twitter accounts
Managing EARA’s Q&A #TransparencyThursday video initiative on Instagram and YouTube.
Production of weekly social media metrics and analysis.
EARA External Communications:
Write weekly stories for the EARA News Digest.
Update the EARA website as needed with News Digest stories, articles, EARA member information, and videos.
EARA Member Communications:
Responding to requests from EARA members for communications advice.
Helping to maintain EARA member communication channels and database.
Demonstrable social media experience - digital content planning, scheduling, and posting across social media platforms, and familiarity with Mailchimp and design (Canva etc) and video-editing software.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
A degree in a science-related field or science communication.
Ability to understand and critique scientific publications and technical documents related to animal research to translate to a wider non-scientific audience.
An understanding of the scientific, ethical, and moral justification for animal research.
Experience of stakeholder engagement and project management, including report writing.
Additional desirable skills and requirements:
Written and/or verbal competency in another European language.
Experience of website building platforms such as Wix and use of YouTube
Able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Willing to undertake travel within Europe for face-to-face events and conferences.
Experience of database systems for customer relationship management.
