Inês Serrenho holds a PhD in Biomedical Research from the University of Beira Interior. During her academic years, she became increasingly interested in ensuring that scientific research reaches beyond the laboratory and connects with the patients it ultimately aims to help. Since 2021, she has served as the EARA X Ambassador for Portugal and co-ordinates the Portuguese Transparency Agreement, promoting openness around the humane use of animals in biomedical research. In 2025, she joined EARA as Patient Engagement and Grants Officer, where she works on initiatives that strengthen collaboration between researchers, patients and communicators.
