Helena is a science communicator with a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology. She worked across different biomedical research topics, from immunology and neuroscience to muscle biology. Her broad interest in life sciences led her to pursue a career in science communication. She joined the communication department at iMM, one of the largest research institutes in Portugal, where she developed her skills in translating complex scientific concepts into engaging content for different audiences. When iMM went through a merger to establish the Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM) she had the privilege of shaping GIMM's science communication and education strategies and coordinating the establishment of important communication channels such as the GIMM website, intranet and newsletters.
Helena joined EARA in 2025, where she manages social media and communication channels, and continues contributing to a society informed by science.
