Nuno Miguel Gonçalves, a former researcher turned science communicator, has a non-traditional career path. His academic journey includes a Molecular Biology PhD from ITQB-NOVA in Portugal, a postdoctoral position at the Leibniz Institute for Plant Biochemistry in Germany, and an MSc in Science Communication from FCSH-NOVA in Portugal. These experiences have honed his expertise in science communication, as evidenced by his previous roles as Communications Officer and Invited Teacher at NOVA Medical School. Currently, as Deputy Director at the EARA, he manages communications, coordinates projects, provides media training for scientists and non-specialists, and facilitates dialogue on animal research in biomedicine, ethical science, and public and patient engagement.
