3Rs grant for Belgian university

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

EARA member Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) has been awarded a €250,000 grant to promote alternative methods to animal testing.

The grant will support the university’s Innovation Centre-3Rs (IC-3Rs), currently working on non-animal methods by improving communication, building networks and supporting the development of alternatives in Belgium and the rest of Europe.

Bernard Clerfayt, Brussels Minister for Animal Welfare, said the website was crucial ‘if we intend to maintain our objective of drastically reducing the number of experimental animals’.
