Animal studies in Covid research - posters and video

US advocacy group Americans for Medical Progress (AMP) has produced some eye-catching posters and video to raise awareness on the use of animals in Covid-19 research.

The posters (see picture) featuring ferrets, hamsters, mice and monkeys explain how each contributed to developing vaccines and treatments and to understanding how the disease was transmitted and its effect on the body.

And in a fascinating video AMP explores in detail how animal research led to two Covid-19 vaccines within a matter of months.

The video explains how animal studies, mainly in rodents, led to the discovery and development of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and animal research again provided critical data for human trials.
