EARA member the Spanish Society of Science for Laboratory Animals (SECAL), has produced a video answering common questions about the use of animals in research, including Covid-19.
The video, produced in collaboration with journal Laboratory Animals Limited, features scientists taking questions from people about the animals involved in research for diseases, such as cancer and Covid-19.
Questions about animal welfare and replacement of animals are also addressed by vets and lab animal technicians, who share some of the ways in which animals are cared for in research institutions.
“To this day the use of animals in research is essential to continue advancing the study of some diseases,” said SECAL vice president Juan Rodríguez.
